In the summer of 2015 I went on a month long volunteer mission in Australia. Our mission was to plant native species of trees and flowers to provide a source of food for the animals in the area that were on track to go extinct. These animals included various species of birds, insects, and small native species of woodland animals. The conservation work that we did was a very special experience for me and the rest of my group. Our work site was several hours outside of Melbourne, Australia in a very small rural town called Francis. The Francis locals were very welcoming and friendly to our group of international student volunteers. This was a very satisfying and fulfilling volunteer trip and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to help.
